Ninh Binh
Ninh Binh is an incredible insight into the simple beauty of the Vietnamese countryside. Just over an hour’s drive from Hanoi, Ninh Binh is a must-see destination for visitors to get lost in a picturesque landscape dotted with winding roads between limestone mountains covered in a cool shade of green, lakes, rivers and streams winding through villages and small towns dotted with lush green or golden rice fields.
The UNESCO World Heritage Site of Trang An Landscape Complex and Tam Coc - Bich Dong are best visited by rowing boat, while Cuc Phuong National Park offers stunning views along its hiking trails. For a majestic panoramic view of the river flowing through the rice fields, climb the stairs to the top of Hang Mua. Nearby is the river gateway to Hoa Lu, the ancient capital of Vietnam from 968 to 1010. The largest Buddhist temple complex in Vietnam exists here, including Bai Dinh Pagoda and Bich Dong Pagoda, as well as Phat Diem Stone Cathedral. If you want to immerse yourself in more peaceful, poetic and wild beauty, explore Van Long Lagoon. Thung Nham Eco-tourism Park is also a good choice for you to wander around.
